Wildlife Crime Spotlight

Kansas Natural Resource officers are asking for help from the public in solving the following wildlife crime. Anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity, or has information about this case, is asked to contact Operation Game Thief at 1-877-426-3843 or fill out the OGT Report Form.

We need concerned citizens like you to report poachers, vandals, thieves and other criminals who have no regard for the natural and recreational resources of the state which belong to every member of the public.

Four Antelope and one Elk poached in NW KS Counties.

Reward Offered.

SH Co. Antelope 5-06

  • Two Antelope were shot and left lay in the southern half of Sherman County in the afternoon hours of Monday, 5/29/06 with a small caliber firearm.
  • One Antelope was shot and left lay approximately 1.5 miles east of the first two antelope, during the morning hours of Wednesday, 5/31/06.
  • One Antelope was shot and left lay approximately 2 miles west of Sharon Springs in Wallace County on or around Monday, 6/5/06.
  • One branch antlered Bull Elk was shot and left lay approximately 1 mile south of Hwy 40 on road 160 in Logan County prior to the week of 6/5/06.

A reward up to $1,500 has been offered to anyone with information leading to the arrest and prosecution of person(s) responsible for the crimes.

Seven Mule Deer Shot in Ellis County

Mule Deer Shot and left Lying in Ellis County

  • On 1/5/06 at 8:00 am, it was reported that 7 mule deer that had been shot and left lying 7.5 miles south of Ellis on the Ellis blacktop. There were 4 adults and 3 fawns. Two fawns and one adult doe were lying injured on the ground unable to get up, with the other four deer dead at the scene. All 7 deer were within 50 yards of the blacktop and all were shot with a small caliber rifle. Kansas Wildlife Officers Association has offered a $500 reward and the Kansas Bowhunters Association has offered a $250 reward for info leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible.
